Job Description:
In this role you will utilize your expertise in all aspects of front end development work and your ability to lead a team of spectacular engineers on the development of SourceForge.net. Strong coding skills are required, since this person will be the “go-to” for the rest of the team on technical issues. Organizational skills are also essential for managing tasks and defects.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, modify, develop, write and implement applications utilizing latest web standards (Javascript, CSS, XML, AJAX)
  • Analyze existing code to locate defects, determine their cause, and address them pragmatically
  • Provide leadership to the engineers in your team, monitor their progress, and report regularly to the Engineering Manager
  • Coordinate with Product Management and the Engineering Manager to set priorities and timelines
  • Manage and contribute to the development process and coding practices
  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure complete functional coverage, enable an automation strategy, provide technical assistance, and prioritize defects
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of hands on development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience
  • Extensive production experience with CSS, JavaScript, XML & AJAX
  • Experienced with developing applications for LAMP
  • Experienced in Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM, XP etc.)
  • Excellent leadership skills, and the desire to excel in a supervisory position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent person-to-person skills
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Familiarity with transaction-based online businesses is desirable
  • Past contribution to an Open Source project and familiarity with SourceForge.net is desirable
