VP of Marketing

Job Description:
SourceForge is a small but rapidly growing organization that wishes to maintain its entrepreneurial culture as it matures. The successful candidate's role in this growth is extremely important as he or she will be essentially building a new marketing organization up from a small one now in place. Senior VP Marketing must operate as part of the executive team to build marketing's role in that team's execution of enterprise goals.
Must be the key voice in the organization to provide consumer and trade value propositions in clear and compelling language.
Responsibilities:
- Building awareness and branding of the SourceForge sites. Provide Executive team guidance in marketing strategy and lead brand-building communication initiatives. Lead brand-building communications efforts directed at all key stakeholders, primarily consumers (site-users), advertising sales customers (agencies and clients), public relations targets and internal audiences
- Consumer – Primary task is to build SourceForge brand loyalty among the millions of unique Global visitors who come to SourceForge each month. Secondary task is build “experiential trial” by bringing the SourceForge experience to target users wherever they look for solutions.
- SourceForge traffic growth, analysis and cross site traffic direction, liaison with the site GM’s and sales team to create and implement new and more relevant user experiences. Consult with team on establishing strategic growth initiatives
- Trade – In support of Sales, primary task is to build and execute a strategic communications plan to:
- Increase Agency PFR invitations and hit rate
- Radically increase the number and yield of direct client engagements
- New advertising programs ( we are building many new innovative programs)
- Investor messaging with our IR agency
- Working closely with the team as we build out our new “Marketplace” launch
- Provide input on product innovation and new business development
- Public Relations – Primary tasks are:
- Building and Maintaining beneficial relationships with consumer, trade and business/financial press
- Supporting strategic marketing programs
- Build up the marketing function within SourceForge – Assemble, train, and lead a small team of professionals in consumer & trade marketing, sales development, research and public relations. Identify/build and roll-out marketing best practices throughout the organization. Manage outside creative and executional agency relationships. Consultative relationship with Executive Team, Sales, Product Development, Content Development, and Client Services
- 9. This person would also play a key role in partnership conversations and in maintaining and growing our current relationships with Top Level Clients
- The person would also manage a team of 3 to 4 people

Qualifications:
- 10 to 15+ years experience in all aspects of US consumer/trade marketing, with significant experience in a technology/web-based customer environment with either a Media, Marketing Client or Agency organization
- Experience working closely with Sales
- Conversant with, and an intuitive feel for, the digital marketplace
- Proven track record in building brand trial and loyalty via experiential marketing
- Must have both creative judgment and technical/analytical/administrative skills
- General management and organizational leadership experience is required
- MBA, a plus
